Review of the Schubert CD This is a beautiful recording… Both of these musicians use modern instruments, but they do their best, without compromising expression, to approach matters of phrasing…and articulation in an early 19th Century style… Cotik and Lin also let some of the virtuosic passages (and they are devilishly difficult) operate as filigree, and they allow for a hierarchy of dramatic intensity in all the pieces (especially the Fantasy, letting the “stops” out in all the right places. These readings are free from the nonsense that I sometimes hear from young players... What I hear is excellent violin playing, excellent piano playing, and extremely enjoyable interpretations of music that I love. READ MORE
